Fazl asks govt to get rid of ‘US slavery’

MARDAN: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, has urged the government to get rid of what he described as the slavery of Americans.

Addressing the Sangar Baba Conference held at the railway station ground here on Sunday, Maulana Fazl said the US and its allies were facing an awkward situation in Afghanistan as they knew they could not win the war there.

The conference was also attended by JUI central secretary general Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidari, provincial ameer Maulana Sheikh Amanullah, provincial secretary general Maulana Mohammad Qasim, district president Maulana Shuja-ul-Mulk and other leaders and workers.

He said that western countries were afraid of the seminaries, adding that they had to acknowledge and respect the Islamic way of life and its values.

He criticised “the anti-Pakhtun policies” of the ANP provincial government and said the so-called Pakhtun leaders had done nothing for the protection of rights of their people.

He lamented that the ANP government had declared music and song as part of the Pakhtun culture which was wrong.

The JUI chief said that both the Awami National Party and Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf were promoting music and songs in public meetings, inviting the wrath of Allah.

He said the ANP and PPP could not compete with religious parties and they would be badly defeated in coming general elections.
