UAE - The Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal upheld the verdict of the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court which sentenced a woman to three months in jail for publishing indecent photos of herself on one of the websites, reported 'Al Bayan'. The family court also issued a ruling of her being divorced from her husband without getting her dowry. The husband had filed a complaint accusing his wife of publishing nude pictures on pornographic sites.  Investigations revealed that nine pictures were real and five fake. Meanwhile, the woman - a government employee - accused her husband of taking such photos on his mobile phone under the influence of alcohol to get rid of her and to deprive her of the custody of her children as well as the dowry. But when the Court of Appeal dismissed her appeal, saying the pictures speak of her act, she justified it by claiming that she took such photos on her husband's demand because he missed her when she was not around. Full Story>>

My husband is an alcoholic, gambler, smokes weed and keeps having sex with other women

I m 35 and have been married for 9 yrs with 2 small kids. My husband gambles, drinks and then has sex with other women. He smokes weed. He also goes to nude bars. When I tell him to quit, he gets aggressive and becomes very abusive. We have not slept together for almost 2 years now as I don't want to, neither does he want to, as he has at least 200 different women around him. My parents do not want me to divorce him. Please guide me in the light of Islam as to what should I do. I m getting too tired mentally and physically. I have tried everything possible but nothing has helped. He thinks there is nothing wrong with him and puts his all blame on me. I have heard from his friends that he was always like that. He does not even care about his own kids. Please guide.

   Assalaamu alaikum sister Zarlish,

   Its a horrible situation to be in and Im sorry to hear that your going through this. However, in order to advice you properly, we do need to have more information than what you have provided.

   Undoubtedly what your husband is doing is totally haraam and unacceptable and I also know that nothing will justify such a behaviour, however, with such information, what else can we possibly advice you but to say "yes this is horrible, divorce him" ? Can we possibly say anything else? Is that what you want to hear?

   It is easy to just divorce and you can go for that option quickly, however, l feel its wrong to advice you that seeing how much I am aware of your situation and its details.

   So be a little more informative as to how things have become this bad..because you claim that it was through his friends you find out that he was always this way. You mean to say when you initially married him, you didn't know he drinks, smokes, is aggressive, or any of his bad habits?? How did you marry him if he has always been this way and why is it that you were not aware of any of this? Or you were aware? If so, then after knowing this why DID you infact marry him?
   Has he really been this way all throughout the marriage or did he become worse later on? Any reasons you could think of as to why he has totally lost it and gone this far?

In its assessment of the cost of a euro break-up, the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) said the UK would
experience a 0.5 per cent reduction in gross domestic product (GDP), based on GDP in the Eurozone contracting 2 per cent as a
whole.
Douglas McWilliams, chief executive of the CEBR, said that slower growth in export markets would impact UK growth and that
business investment would also be affected by a break-up.
The report comes as Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou agreed to stand down, leaving the countryʼs leaders to form a
unity government that will be led by a new prime minister.
The CEBR said the ʻon-offʼ Greek referendum had forced Europe to ʻlook over the edge and confront the issue of the break-up of
the Eurozoneʼ.
McWilliams explained that as the UK holds just £2.1 billion of Greek sovereign debt, compared with £14.1 billion and £9.3 billion
in Germany and France respectively, the monetary impacts of Greece leaving the Euro and defaulting would be ʻmanageableʼ.
He added, ʻIf it breaks up, the immediate pain is much more intense but then there is a more stable basis and we would expect
that within about 30 months growth will actually be faster than if the Eurozone survives in its current form.
